I think what that member said is so disturbing. He said that their government has invested more in mental health than any other government. What a fallacy and an insult.

Government Business No. 34—Proceedings on Bill C-62  Madam Speaker, it is always a true honour to stand in the House of Commons and represent the beautiful riding of Peterborough—Kawartha. I believe that what we are talking about today, which we have been talking about for almost a year to the day, is actually one of the most important pieces of legislation this Parliament will ever discuss and decide on.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, after eight years of the Liberal-NDP government, chaos and crime is at epidemic levels. Just weeks ago, a mom of three was murdered in Calgary in front of an elementary school in a targeted domestic killing. Her offender had previous charges, multiple active warrants and a no contact order.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, this became a partisan issue the minute the fake feminist Prime Minister let women die. That is the reality. Ninety four municipalities in Ontario alone have declared domestic violence an epidemic. Violent crime is up almost 40%, sexual assault up 72%, sex crimes against children up 126%.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the reality is that we have to axe the tax. People and Canadians are taxed into oblivion. Those bills I read into the record are asinine. We are being taxed on a tax. I go back to the butter. If we take away anything, it is the butter effect. It is melting away businesses and families.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I think if people have any conversation with these dairy farmers, they will say, without a doubt, that this carbon tax is crippling them. That is across the board. Bill C-234 is about that. That is what I would push back on. I would—

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I think what the member opposite is talking about is listening, gathering data and, as a real leader would do, recognizing when something they are doing does not work. That is actually what we are asking the Liberals to do today. Instead of doubling down on something that they just believe is great, we are saying the data is in and the carbon tax is not helping anyone.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, it is always a true honour to rise in the House of Commons and speak on behalf of the folks of Peterborough—Kawartha. Today, it is a real honour, because we get to present our opposition motion, a common-sense opposition motion that would make life more affordable for Canadians, and I will read it into the record for folks at home.

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I rise today to present e-petition 4701, the most-signed e-petition in Canadian history, with 387,487 signatures. The petitioners state that they have lost confidence in the Prime Minister and that the current government is not acting in the best interest of all citizens.

Questions Passed as Orders for Returns  With regard to the National Advisory Council on Early Learning and Child Care: (a) what amount of remuneration is each member of the council paid; (b) what is the total amount spent on travel and hospitality by members of the council since the council's membership was announced in November 2022; (c) what is the breakdown of (b) by each member of the council; (d) what are the limits, if any, on the amount of travel and hospitality expenses that can be claimed by members of the council; (e) what are the dates, locations, and names of attendees of each meeting the council has had; (f) what is the council's annual budget; and (g) how much has been spent by the council to date, broken down by item and type of expenditure?

Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act  Mr. Speaker, my colleague's speech was excellent and really honoured the work that our farmers do to feed us. In my riding, over Christmastime, I met with a local woman who had to shut down her business because of the cost of butter. Eight years ago, when she started, it was $2.49 a pound.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, Haass Acres has been operating as a family farm since 1930. The family farms about 2,000 acres, and this year they will pay $10,000 in carbon tax, which will quadruple to $40,000. That may not seem like a lot to the Prime Minister and his trust fund, but it is a lot to the Haass family.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, that is classic Liberal deflection. When the Liberals are down, they will deflect at every fact they can. These are the facts: Under the Prime Minister, housing prices have doubled. Under the Prime Minister, food bank usage is the highest in history. On the OECD, we rank 35 out of 38 in teen mental health.

Questions Passed as Orders for Returns  With regard to the government’s response to homelessness and tent cities: (a) what are the details of all programs currently in place to deal with homelessness and tent cities; (b) for each program in (a), how much funding is allocated in (i) the current fiscal year, (ii) each of the next five fiscal years; (c) which of the programs in (a) involve funding for addiction treatment and recovery; (d) how is the funding for each program tracked, monitored and audited; and (e) does the government have any quantifiable goals for reducing the number of homeless Canadians, and, if so, what are they, nationally and broken down by region?
