I wonder if he would expand on how disastrous it would be to proceed with Bill C-49 now, given that sections from Bill C-69, sections 61, 62 and 64, which are all embedded in Bill C-69, have now been declared by the Supreme Court of Canada, on Friday, to be largely unconstitutional.

Canadian Sustainable Jobs Act  Madam Speaker, I know that the member and I often debate from our opposing world views on the role and necessity of oil and natural gas for Canada and the globe long into the future, but I certainly appreciate her comments on respecting provincial jurisdiction. I know that we share that principle, but the NDP-Liberals think nothing of running roughshod over provincial governments with whom they disagree.

Again, I am not sure if the Bloc knows the facts either, but here they are. I hate to be a homer all the time, but Alberta for decades has led this country in renewable and alternative energy development.

Canadian Sustainable Jobs Act  Madam Speaker, what I am a fierce protector of is the livelihoods, the cost of living and the standard of living of the people I represent and every single vulnerable community and citizen across this country. While I appreciated working with that hon. member on the natural resources committee in my first term, he should probably get into the coalition cabinet and ask them about why they have not done the interties and have set unrealistic targets that are impossible, about which they will answer no single concrete question regarding who is going to pay for them and how we are going to get there.

Canadian Sustainable Jobs Act  Madam Speaker, I really appreciate that question because it gives me the ability to address the reality of Bill C-49 rather than the Liberals' false claims. Here is the truth about Bill C-49. It imports a number of clauses from Bill C-69 and includes a number of clauses from another bill, Bill C-55.

Canadian Sustainable Jobs Act  Madam Speaker, for all Canadians everywhere; for my bosses, the people of Lakeland; and on behalf of the official opposition, Conservatives oppose Bill C-50. It is dressed up as something else, but it is really the culmination and symbol of the NDP-Liberal costly coalition's divisive, top-down, central planning, economy-restructuring and wealth-redistributing, anti-private sector, antidevelopment, anti-energy agenda, known previously and around the world as the so-called just transition.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I do not know why the Liberals keep asking me this question since I was a very strong internal and then later external critic of that policy. I did not run on it and the person who put it forward unilaterally is no longer here, because the Conservative caucus made an extremely difficult but principled decision.

The NDP-Liberals claim that their carbon tax is in place to reduce emissions, even though the model that they have imposed does not reflect anything near what economists who propose carbon taxes for emissions reductions actually propose, which is an equivalent reduction in red-tape taxes to offset the price and exemptions for emissions-intensive trade-exposed industries.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, Conservatives will take action to reduce emissions globally by exporting our technology and products to help our allies get off dictator oil and ensure Canadians' energy self-sufficiency and security so we can support our allies. Energy security, self-sufficiency and sustainability dictate the price of food and the standard of living, which is a crucial thing for this country to secure that has absolutely languished and been lost, I fear generationally, under the NDP-Liberals.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, it is a pleasure to follow my friend, the formidable MP for Peterborough—Kawartha. We come from different parts of the country and different backgrounds, but as are all Conservatives in our big, growing movement, we are united with our Conservative leader to fight to axe the carbon tax; to bring down food and fuel prices, as well as heating and cooling costs for all Canadians; to build homes Canadians can afford; and to bring jobs, money, businesses, natural resource development and exports.

Points of Order  Mr. Speaker, on the same point of order, this probably could all be resolved if the Prime Minister would actually take responsibility and stop putting women up to do his dirty work for him.
